Inertia

Sometimes, I feel so very sorry for the letters that I write. Born onto a blank page and trapped there all their lives. No new sites to see, no unfamiliar faces to meet; standing in a lonely row just to express my thoughts as words, and yet, completely unable to express their own. They lie paralyzed in their birthplace lacking the ability to grow and learn. Immovable to change for the rest of their lives. And sometimes, I wonder to myself, why I choose to be the same.

The snow white TG of David Murphy

The true story of Snow White Prince Charming wasn't a prince to start with. He was an accident caused by two young lovers. Not wanting to be accused of adultery, the abandoned him in the woods near a cave of wolves hoping not to be charged with adultery. Luckily, a kindly enchantress named Mildred rescued the boy and brainwashed the kingdom into thinking he was the prince. For a while, things were fine...till he got hmself in a screw up. "you told your cousin Frederick what?!" Mildred gasped. "I was embarssed okay." Charming said. "you know that bedtime story you made up for me...the one about the princess who eats the poisoned apple?" "S

Gods of the Sky: The Eternal Balance, ch.6

Her vision was a blur, only able to discern shapes and shadows as she returned to the waking world. When her vision finally focused Natherael found herself laying on her back, staring up at a ceiling of stone awash with the wavering orange hue from the light of a fire. She lay in a large and ornate bed dressed in a satin gown, her body felt heavy and she could feel the side of her abdomen throbbing but there was no pain.     She turned her head and took in the room; tapestries hung from the walls, the windows were covered by deep red curtains, a table and chairs sat at the room's center with a woven rug beneath them. Tucked into the co

Love of a Thorn

I only like you when you're not around. I only like you when we're apart. When you're only a version of yourself in my mind. In the hours and the days and the months     we spent together. Incessantly by each other's side. All that time, that one whole year I'll never get back. Oh how I hated everything that you put me through. Selfish and whiny and immature, you thought I loved you. In truth, I pitied you. That's the only reason I stuck by you. Because being your lover made me SO MUCH BETTER     in other people's eyes. Because being your friend made me feel like I was     a much better person than who I really am. Noone els

The room is dark with curved walls, dark blue like the night sky without any stars. Luna awakens and finds herself in a bright purple bubble of glass. She feels empty, blank, completely void of words. She stares uncomprehendingly at other bubbles as brightly hued as her own, her knees hugged to her chest. A bubble tinted with the same shade as a cloudless sky floats past her, containing a pixie-like girl still asleep. Her petite form's curled into the same knee-to-chest position as Luna's. Where am I? What's going on...? A pale emerald bubble floats past her carrying a similar pixie girl, followed by a scarlet bubble, a gold bubble, a dark gr

Pain's Fangs - Part 4: Chosen

"Please name the six Kivuli in order from strongest to weakest," my tutor said, looking down at me with eyes the color of fall leaves in sunlight. "Blue, grey, green, amber, brown, black," I responded obediently in my 6-year-old soprano voice. "And tell me; what are the Kivuli, Miss Tori?" "The six colors the eyes of our race, the Dynami, are born with to indicate the level of power they will possess when their powers have been fully awakened," I said, reciting the definition from memory. "Very good, little lady!"  I beamed at the praise and looked down eagerly at the chart she placed on the desk in front of me.  "Will you please read thi

Luna's Book of Dreams [EXCERPT]

Luna's Book of Dreams [EXCERPT] Chapter One I didn't remember when the sickness began. I called this sudden introversion of mine a 'sickness' not because I considered those who possessed that mindset 'sick', but because I suffered from it. Long ago, in a world far from the one I lived in now, my childhood blossomed with family, friends and dreams. Luna the aspiring writer, playing with her kindergarten classmates, living happily with a loving mother and father. But now I felt like an empty shell, with empty thoughts and empty ambitions, living an empty life. It would be better, in fact, if no one touched my mind or heart, if everyone just le
